This booklet is the fifth of the Beccon Collector's Checklists - the first four are detailed elsewhere.- and comes about from the compiler's involvement with The Science Fiction Foundation (Registered Charity 1041052). Part of the remit of this charity is to support the Foundation Collection which is curated by the University of Liverpool. The charity's committee were aware that the library had grown haphazardly in the previous 15 years or so, and they determined that a list of "core titles" be produced. This booklet is that list - containing a list of all those sf and fantasy titles that have made the short lists for the major awards.
The eight awards covered are the Arthur C Clarke, Hugo, International Fantasy, John W Campbell Memorial, Locus, Nebula, Philip K Dick and World Fantasy. Several of these have multiple categories and all book-length nominees are included.
