An article (in the form of a letter) titled " Letter to a Lady Intellectual" by Bernard Wall was published on p8 of the "The Catholic Herald" on 7 Jan 1938. This was NMM's reply. Bernard Wall responded in another article on p6 of the 4 Feb 1938 issue.

  OB 25 Feb 1939 pp 13 of "The Manchester Guardian" reports on, and prints the full text of, a cable signed by "a large number of distinguished people" sent the the US President.

  OL 11 Aug 1939 pp 3 of "The Daily Worker" reported that NMM was one of many responders to a questionnaire sent out by the Polish weekly newspaper "Epoka". The work of circularisation in several European countries was done by the World Committee Against War and Fascism.

  In early 1937 Laura Riding sent out a letter requesting a reply to around 400 people worldwide. There were about 100 replies and 65 of these were included, with added comments by the editor, in a book which was advertised as "a symposium on the state of the world"
